Which Homely mode is best for me?

Homely has three modes of operation you can choose from with differing levels of optimisation and features depending on the level you select. These levels are:

  • Standard Mode:
Standard mode operates the heat pump only during your scheduled times. Homely will work hard to quickly warm up your home during those windows. Since it doesn’t run outside the scheduled times, your home may cool down in between. During the set periods, Homely operates at full power to reach the desired temperature, then maintains it efficiently. It is the least energy-efficient option and is best for customers who prioritise manual control.

  • Smart Mode:
Smart mode is ideal for customers with fixed electricity prices. It ensures your home is warm and comfortable during your scheduled heating times. To maximise efficiency, Homely may run your heat pump at a low, steady level throughout the day, keeping your home warm between set points. Alternatively, if it’s more cost-effective, Homely might allow the temperature to drop slightly during these periods. Smart mode adapts to balance comfort, efficiency, and cost.

  • Smart+ Mode:
Smart+ mode helps you save on energy costs by taking advantage of cheaper, off-peak electricity rates provided on Time of Use tariffs. During these times, Homely may slightly overheat your home, based on your chosen settings, to store warmth for later use. When electricity prices rise, Homely reduces heat pump usage, relying on the stored warmth to keep your home comfortable. This efficient approach ensures a cosy home while minimising energy use during peak pricing periods, helping you save money.
