Homely and Cooling Modes

Can I use cooling mode with Homely?

Homely does not directly control or operate your heat pump’s cooling mode. However, if your heat pump supports cooling, you can continue to use your Homely hub alongside it.

Before using cooling mode, you’ll need to disable heating within the Homely app. You can do this using the Disable Heating toggle in the Heating Settings section of the app. If you need guidance on how to do this, please see our article on Disabling Heating.

Once heating has been disabled, you’ll need to use your heat pump’s controller to switch the system into cooling mode and manage any cooling settings.

While cooling mode is active, Homely will not control your heating or cooling system. Any cooling schedules, temperatures, and operating modes must be managed through your heat pump’s controller. However, Homely will continue to manage your hot water schedules as normal.
Please note that Homely does not monitor, optimise, or report on cooling performance. Any cooling-related settings, energy use, or system behaviour will be determined by your heat pump and its controller.

If you’re unsure whether your heat pump supports cooling, or if you need help activating or using cooling mode, your installer will be best placed to provide advice and guidance for your specific system.
