Why is My Home Warmer Than My Set Temperature?

If your home feels warmer than the temperature you’ve set in the Homely app, don’t worry, this can happen for a few reasons, all of which are part of how Homely works to keep your home comfortable and energy efficient.

Possible Reasons:

1. Preheating During Cheaper Energy Periods

If you’re a Smart+ customer, Homely may preheat your home during cheaper electricity periods (like overnight). This helps reduce the amount of heating needed later in the day, while still keeping your home above your minimum temperature setting.

2. A Higher Previous Temperature Setting

If your set temperature has recently been lowered, your home may still be warm from the previous, higher setting. Homely doesn’t have the ability to actively cool your home, it only controls heating. So if the temperature drops naturally, Homely will wait until it goes below your new set temperature before heating again.

3. It’s More Efficient to Stay Warm

Homely is designed to save energy and reduce your bills by avoiding sharp changes in temperature. Sometimes, it’s more cost-efficient to maintain a slightly higher temperature rather than letting your home cool down, only to heat it up again later. This includes heating overnight to make sure we are ready for your morning set point.

A Quick Reminder:

The temperatures you set in the Homely app are minimum temperatures — not fixed or target ones.

That means your home may go slightly above them, but Homely will not actively heat your home above 25°C.
