Dual Zone - Before you buy

What is a dual-zone heating system?

A dual-zone heating system divides your home into two separate areas, or “zones”, that can be heated and controlled independently. This setup allows you to manage the temperature in each zone based on how and when you use different parts of your home, offering more comfort and control.

A dual-zone setup doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll use less energy, but it can make your heating system more comfortable and more flexible, giving you more control over how heat is distributed throughout your home.

Does dual-zone reduce my heating costs?

Not always. Dual-zone control can make your home feel more comfortable, but because zones may call for heat at different times or temperatures, the system may run less efficiently overall.
The best savings still come from running your heat pump at steady, lower temperatures and letting Homely optimise it.

Can I switch between zones manually?

Yes. You can switch between zones at any time from the top of your homescreen or heating screen in the app to check or adjust settings.

Do I need extra hardware for dual-zone?

Yes. Dual-zone setups use two Homely nodes — one for each zone — installed by your installer. These communicate with your heat pump to manage each zone independently.
